Integrating Assign2 with Canvas

This guide provides the steps for a Canvas administrator to install and configure Assign2 as an external LTI tool, making it available for instructors to use in their courses.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you will need the following from the Edufide support team:

  • Consumer Key and Shared Secret: These are your unique credentials for the LTI integration.
  • Launch URL: The endpoint URL for the Assign2 LTI tool.

Installing the LTI Tool

1.

Log in to Canvas as an administrator.

2.

Navigate to the ‘Admin’ section, and then to the account or sub-account where you want to install the tool.

3.

Go to ‘Settings’, and then click on the ‘Apps’ tab.

4.

Click on ’+ App’ (Add App).

Configuring the Tool

In the ‘Add App’ dialog, select ‘By URL’ as the Configuration Type. Then, enter the following details:

  • Name: Assign2 (or your preferred name)
  • Consumer Key: [Your provided Consumer Key]
  • Shared Secret: [Your provided Shared Secret]
  • Config URL: [Your provided Launch URL, often ending in /config.xml]

Click ‘Submit’. The tool should now be installed and available for instructors to add to their courses from the ‘External Tool’ assignment type.

Testing the Integration

To ensure the integration is working correctly:

1.

Go to a course and create a new assignment.

2.

For the submission type, choose ‘External Tool’.

3.

Click ‘Find’ and select ‘Assign2’ from the list of tools.

4.

Save and publish the assignment. Clicking on the assignment link should launch the Assign2 interface within Canvas.
